Scrappy Sock KAL 2021!

Many of us have various sock yarn leftovers, waiting to be used in something fun.  We are also missing our knitting friends and looking for new connections.

So, while Yarn Twisters cannot host knit nights or in person events, we would like to team up with Baiba Jautaiķe of @baibasworkshop and host a Mystery Scrap Yarn Sock KAL (the mystery is the yarn you will use!)

Every participant contributes approximately 100 grams of their scrap sock yarn, balls can be anywhere from 2 grams up to 30 grams.  Sign up and package drop offs will happen at Yarn Twisters during regular business hours from Tuesday, February 9, 2021 to Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

Yarn Twisters and Baiba will divide the sock yarn scraps up into 2 bags per participant.  Each bag will contain 50 grams of scrap sock yarn and will be the same to ensure you can make a matching pair of socks!  Participants will pick up their new scrappy sock yarn at Yarn Twisters during regular business hours starting Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

Pick a sock pattern, either a nice an easy vanilla pattern, or challenge yourself with a pattern that involves some new and interesting techniques, and on March 1, 2021 start knitting those scrappy socks!  Pattern suggestions are below.  Help with the patterns is available from either Yarn Twisters or Baiba.

Post your progress to Instagram or Facebook with #scrappysockkal2021 and join the Ravelry Yarn Twisters Group discussion thread to chat with your fellow knitters, ask advice, compare progress, etc.

KAL will wrap up on March 31, 2021, all participants will be eligible for prizes.
