Mystery Scrap Yarn Cowl KAL

Do you have colourful worsted yarn leftovers, waiting to be used in something fun? Do you enjoy easy, fast and friendly gift knitting?
Yarn Twisters together with Baiba Jautaike of @baibasworkshop is hosting the Mystery Scrap Yarn Cowl KAL

Preparations
Every participant contributes approximately 150 grams of worsted weight leftover yarn, the natural fibre balls can be anywhere from 10 grams up to 40 grams.
Sign up and package drop offs will happen at Yarn Twisters during regular business hours from Monday, November 8, 2021 to Sunday, November 21, 2021.

Yarn Twisters and Baiba will mix up and divide the yarn scraps into 1 bag per participant, thus introducing the mystery element of this KAL.

Meanwhile the participants will get ready for knitting: find a free 40cm (16”) long 4mm (US 6) circular needle and purchase the (Making the Ends meet) cowl pattern on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/making-ends-meet-2, written by Baiba Jautaike especially for this event. Participants can use the code ADVENT to receive 20% off the pattern. Coupon code is effective December 1 to December 31.

Cast On Party
Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 6:30pm at Yarn Twisters
Participants will pick up their new scrappy yarn and will start to work on their cowls.

KAL Wednesdays
There are exactly 24 stripes in this pattern — one for each day of the Advent. Participants will knit the stripe of the day as Christmas comes closer and closer.
In addition to individual knitting time every following Wednesday at 6:30pm in December at Yarn Twisters there will be a chance to meet other participants and hosts in person, to ask advice, compare progress, etc. Record of full vaccination and masks required.

Note: If you do not live in the Calgary area and therefore not able to participate in the yarn exchange and KAL Wednesdays, you can still KAL with us! Just grab your yarn scraps and pattern and join the Ravelry Yarn Twisters Group discussion thread to chat with fellow knitters and share progress pictures.
