Prefer to knit your socks from the cuff, but want to use up all of your yarn?  A sock with an afterthought heel is the perfect solution! These socks are knit two-at-a-time! No SSS (second sock syndrome) here! In this 4 hour class (1 hour for the first week, and 3 hours for the second week), you will learn all of the skills you need to feel like a superstar, sock-knitter, extraordinaire.

Here is what you will learn in this class

How to cast on for cuff down, two-at-a-time socks

How to knit two socks at the same time using Magic Loop

Afterthought heel

Kitchener stitch

Skill level required: Advanced beginner to intermediate knitter: Must be comfortable knitting and purling, including knitting in the round.

Materials:

Pattern will be supplied by Myrna

1 skein of Sea Turtle Fiber Arts, Turtle Bay Worsted 192m (210yds)**

Approx. 25g/.9oz (40m/ 44yd) of a contrast colour of the same yarn for the toe and heel (if desired)

4 mm (US6), 100cm (40”) (or longer) circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge

1 set of 4 dpns 1-2 sizes smaller (for easier picking) for picking up heel stitches (optional, but recommended)

tapestry needle for weaving ends

clip on stitch markers

scissors

a kitchen scale for weighing out your yarn if you chose to divide your skein OR if you chose to NOT use a contrast for toes/heels (optional)

** A note about substituting yarns for worsted socks. Worsted sock yarn should have the same qualities as fingering sock yarn. A superwash wool blended with either nylon, silk or acrylic is best for added durability.  Recommended alternative: Estelle Worsted (50% acrylic, 40% wool, 10% nylon)
