When I can pull myself away from knitting I also love spending time with my three children and visiting family in my hometown in Saskatchewan. I also volunteer for the PALS program with my dog Oliver. My favourite places to knit are in the shop with many of you or at my cottage with my family around.
Michelle - Owner/Operator/Knitting Enthusiast - I'm a mom to four amazing kids who loves to play hockey and spend my time on the golf course. When I am not busy with the above things you will usually find me knitting. Knitting was a hobby I picked up casually about six years ago and since then has become a huge part of my life. I actually learned to knit by the same lovely lady who hosted the knit night where Lisa and I met.
We hope you enjoy visiting our shop as much as we enjoy working at it. Come say hi anytime and we will do our best to drop everything and have a seat with you on our couch.
Myrna Batten - Instructor - I have been knitting for more than eighteen years (ugh! not sure I like thinking about how old that makes me. LOL). I taught myself to knit when I was pregnant with my son and haven't stopped. I started teaching “formally” about eight years ago when I ran a knitting club for 30+ kids in my son’s middle school. It was an easy transition to teaching adults in a yarn store. I specialize in teaching beginner knitters and love to absorb new knitters into the collective. I also love to teach more advanced techniques. Sweater fitting, pattern writing, brioche, socks, lace, cables, double knitting, steeking (why yes, I do like to cut my knits… don’t you?): you’d be hard pressed to find a technique that I can’t teach. I’d even teach entrelac if I had too (please don’t make me?).
When I’m not knitting, I’m on my horse in the mountains, or hanging with my family or friends (love my knit night peeps and my Pathfinder game-night).
You can find me as mdbatten on Ravelry, @SAHMKnits1 or @Mountainhoofbeats (if you want to see my horse stuff) on Instagram.
I look forward to seeing you in class!
